Cardiac CT and cardiac MRI training for doctors and radiographers
Live online courses from Wales, taught by practising consultants and senior radiographers. The main programme is the six-day Level 1 and 2 Cardiac CT Course on the BSCI Level 2 pathway. There are also one-day cardiac CT and cardiac MRI courses for radiographers, and a monthly Fellowship for those already reporting.

Level 1 and 2 Cardiac CT Course
The Level 1 and Level 2 curriculum in one course. Morning lectures, afternoon case reporting on shared workstations, 150 CTCA cases with catheter correlation, structural and TAVI planning CT, and a clear plan for your BSCI Level 2 application afterwards. For cardiologists, radiologists, reporting radiographers and senior trainees.

The Fellowship
For cardiologists and radiologists who already report cardiac CT. A weekly live tutorial with the consultant faculty, review of your own anonymised cases, a recorded archive and a peer community. Support through the BSCI Level 2 submission, SCCT verification and, in time, BSCI Level 3.

Cardiac MRI Reporting Course
A reporting course for doctors, built to the same pattern as the cardiac CT programme: sequence physics and protocol design, ischaemia assessment, cardiomyopathy characterisation and parametric mapping, taught by consultants with active CMR practices.
Courses for radiographers
Two one-day live courses run jointly with Radiology Seminars for radiographers scanning, or about to scan, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. Both are CPD accredited and taught by a consultant radiologist, a senior cardiac radiographer and a consultant cardiologist. Booking for both is handled by Radiology Seminars.

Cardiac CT Course for Radiographers
Setting up a service, indications and patient selection, scanning parameters, patient preparation and heart rate control, TAVI scanning, image interpretation and live case reviews. CPD accredited by the College of Radiographers.

Cardiac MRI Course for Radiographers
MRI safety and screening, cardiac anatomy and imaging planes, protocols and acquisition, ECG gating and breath-holds, cine and function, flow, perfusion and late gadolinium, artefacts and troubleshooting. CPD accredited.
How we teach
Two specialties in every session
A consultant cardiologist and a consultant radiologist read cases together in front of you. Where the two professions approach an image differently, we say so. That is how cardiac imaging is delivered in a good department, and it is how we teach it.
Cases are reported, not watched
You report 150 CTCA cases on a shared workstation with feedback from the faculty. Most coronary cases are paired with the catheter angiogram, which is the quickest way to calibrate your stenosis grading.
Live online, and recorded
No travel, no hotel, no week away from home. Every session is recorded and remains available to you, which matters when you assemble your BSCI application months later.
The pathway after the course
We explain what the BSCI expects in your 25-case logbook, who may sign your verification form, and where applications usually go wrong. Six months of the Fellowship are included so that the support continues after day six.

Common questions
Do I need BSCI Level 1 before enrolling?
No. The course covers the Level 1 and Level 2 curriculum in one programme. Delegates with no prior cardiac CT training start on day one with physics, gating and anatomy; those who already read some cardiac CT use the same days to consolidate.
Which accreditation does the course lead to?
The course is designed to meet the course-based route for BSCI/BSCCT Level 2 Initial accreditation. After the course you report 25 cases in your own hospital under a Level 2 Experienced (or SCCT or EACVI Level 2 or 3) supervisor, then apply to the BSCI. The case experience also counts towards the 250 mentored cases required for SCCT Level 2 verification. Accreditation is awarded by the societies, not by the Academy. How does the online live format work?
Teaching runs live from 09:00 to 17:00 or 17:30 each day over a streaming platform with shared workstations, live case reporting and questions taken throughout. Every session is recorded and the recordings stay available to you after the course, which is useful when you prepare your BSCI application.
How many cases will I report?
At least 150 contrast-enhanced CTCA cases, which is the BSCI evidence requirement for Level 2 Initial. The case mix covers coronary disease across the spectrum, bypass grafts, stents, structural and valvular cases, adult congenital disease and rarer pathology. Most coronary cases are paired with the catheter angiogram.
What does the fee include?
All six days of live tuition, recordings of every session, the 150-plus case library, structured reporting templates, a certificate of completion, 35 RCR CPD credits, post-course guidance on the 25-case submission, and, on the standard fee, six months of the Fellowship. VAT is included in the prices shown.
Can my trust or employer pay?
Yes. We issue VAT invoices addressed to your trust, hospital or employer, together with the documentation usually needed for study leave applications in the NHS, private practice and overseas. Email hello@cardiacimagingacademy.co.uk if you need a pro-forma invoice before approval.
