Level 1 and 2 Cardiac CT Course
A six-day cardiac CT course, taught live online by a consultant cardiologist and a consultant radiologist. It covers the BSCI Level 1 and Level 2 curriculum in one programme: physics and acquisition, coronary anatomy and calcium scoring, 150 reported CTCA cases with catheter correlation, structural and TAVI planning CT, and the application process for BSCI Level 2 and SCCT.
For consultant cardiologists and radiologists, reporting radiographers, and senior trainees in cardiology and radiology. No prior Level 1 certificate is required.

Who the course is for
Consultant cardiologists
Cardiologists adding Level 2 cardiac CT reporting to their practice: chest pain pathways, structural heart planning and the follow-up of complex coronary disease.
Consultant radiologists
Cardiothoracic and general radiologists building a cardiac CT reporting practice, who already bring structured reporting, artefact recognition and post-processing from their training.
Reporting radiographers
Advanced practitioner radiographers extending into cardiac CT reporting through the HEE Advanced Practice route. The curriculum is the same Level 2 curriculum the BSCI applies to doctors. The aim is reporting parity within the MDT.
Trainees and SAS doctors
Senior trainees in cardiology or radiology, post-CCT fellows, and Staff Grade, Specialty and Associate Specialist doctors. A trainee fee applies with a letter confirming your post.
What you will be able to do by day six
- Set up and supervise a cardiac CT acquisition. Choose the protocol, manage heart rate and contrast, optimise dose, and recognise the common acquisition artefacts.
- Report coronary CT angiography. Grade stenosis, characterise plaque, assess bypass grafts and stents, and write a structured report that a cardiologist can act on. You will have reported 150 cases by the end of the week.
- Perform and report calcium scoring, and apply FFR-CT. Know the indications and the limits of each.
- Plan structural intervention on CT. Produce TAVI sizing measurements, assess the left atrial appendage for closure, measure for mitral and tricuspid intervention, and prepare pre-ablation datasets.
- Recognise extra-coronary and extra-cardiac disease. Cardiac masses, pericardial disease, adult congenital findings, and the incidental findings that accompany them.
- Apply for BSCI Level 2 without guesswork. Leave with a plan for your 25-case logbook, the documentation the BSCI expects, and a realistic timeline.

The six-day course plus six months of the Fellowship (worth £900 if bought separately).
Trainee and SAS fee
£1,495 VAT included
The same package for doctors in a training post, and Staff Grade, Specialty and Associate Specialist doctors, with a letter confirming the post.
After the six included months, the Fellowship continues at £150 a month and can be cancelled at any time. Unused included months are refunded at £75 a month if you cancel early.

The route to BSCI Level 2 after the course
The course covers the classroom part of the BSCI course-based route. Accreditation itself is awarded by the BSCI/BSCCT once you have added real-world cases. The sequence is:
- The course. 150 contrast-enhanced cases interpreted under faculty supervision, with a certificate confirming the case mix, the CPD awarded and the accreditation level of the faculty lead.
- 25 cases in your own hospital. Real cases that you help acquire and then report, supervised by a practitioner accredited at BSCI Level 2 Experienced or above (or SCCT or EACVI Level 2 or 3). Reports must be anonymised and include the DLP and scan technique.
- Application. Submit the course certificate, the logbook, the supervisor's verification form and a letter confirming your post through the BSCI portal. We advise on the documentation during the Fellowship.
- BSCI Level 2 Initial. Valid for three years. Re-accredit as Level 2 Experienced, and continue towards SCCT verification or BSCI Level 3 if you wish.
Apply within twelve months of the course; after that the BSCI requires an additional 100-case logbook. The full rules are set out in our BSCI Level 2 guide.

Common questions
Do I need BSCI Level 1 before enrolling?
No. The course covers the Level 1 and Level 2 curriculum in one programme. Delegates with no prior cardiac CT training start on day one with physics, gating and anatomy; those who already read some cardiac CT use the same days to consolidate.
Which accreditation does the course lead to?
The course is designed to meet the course-based route for BSCI/BSCCT Level 2 Initial accreditation. After the course you report 25 cases in your own hospital under a Level 2 Experienced (or SCCT or EACVI Level 2 or 3) supervisor, then apply to the BSCI. The case experience also counts towards the 250 mentored cases required for SCCT Level 2 verification. Accreditation is awarded by the societies, not by the Academy. How does the online live format work?
Teaching runs live from 09:00 to 17:00 or 17:30 each day over a streaming platform with shared workstations, live case reporting and questions taken throughout. Every session is recorded and the recordings stay available to you after the course, which is useful when you prepare your BSCI application.
How many cases will I report?
At least 150 contrast-enhanced CTCA cases, which is the BSCI evidence requirement for Level 2 Initial. The case mix covers coronary disease across the spectrum, bypass grafts, stents, structural and valvular cases, adult congenital disease and rarer pathology. Most coronary cases are paired with the catheter angiogram.
Is the course suitable for reporting radiographers?
Yes. Advanced practitioner radiographers extending into independent cardiac CT reporting through the HEE Advanced Practice route follow the same Level 2 curriculum. Please note that BSCI/BSCCT accreditation itself is currently open only to doctors in radiology, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, so radiographers evidence their training through their trust's advanced practice governance rather than a BSCI certificate.
What does the fee include?
All six days of live tuition, recordings of every session, the 150-plus case library, structured reporting templates, a certificate of completion, 35 RCR CPD credits, post-course guidance on the 25-case submission, and, on the standard fee, six months of the Fellowship. VAT is included in the prices shown.
Can my trust or employer pay?

Who qualifies for the trainee fee?
Doctors in a recognised training post, and SAS doctors (Staff Grade, Specialty Doctor, Associate Specialist). A letter from your training programme director or hospital confirming your post is required at registration.
What is the refund policy?
You may cancel within 14 days of booking for a full refund. After that, cancellations more than 60 days before the course are refunded at 90 per cent, cancellations 30 to 60 days before at 50 per cent, and later cancellations may be transferred to a future date within 12 months.
